Roles and contributions
As a photojournalist, I execute my dairy assignments which covers local news stories ranging from business, sports and to lifestyle.
I am also given the opportunity to contribute a photo essay on a topic, for which I had to source, storyboard, plan and execute, which included writing and editing the story.
I was also tasked to source for a newsmaker for a weekly column, hotbods, which features Singaporeans with a well toned body as well as a healthy lifestyle.
At the photodesk, I also handled the imaging department's work (photo filing) on one occassion, which included downloading handout photos, editing and uploading of photos with the correct captions.
What I learned
I learned a whole lot of technical skills from my colleagues who have had more than 10 years of experience photographing news events. I was able to practice my photography skills in a real-world environment, and under deadline pressure. I am able to engage my newsmakers/subjects more intimately, by striking a rapport with them in a short time
